For and with the neighbourhood. Every day

Our community workers are active on the streets of Lelystad every day. They are the eyes and ears of the neighbourhood: always nearby, involved and approachable. Cycling through the city, they have a chat, spotting what is going on and contributing ideas to make your neighbourhood more fun, safe and sociable.

They take the time to listen. Sometimes a good conversation is enough. Sometimes they help you further by contacting, for example, the social neighbourhood team, the municipality, a housing association, neighbourhood police or the Public Health Service. They know the neighbourhood and the people.

Neighbourhood rooms: your place in town

Looking for a nice place to meet others? You will find a community room in almost every neighbourhood of Lelystad: a warm, accessible place where you are welcome for a cup of coffee, a chat or a sociable activity.

You can just walk in, bring your own knitting or puzzle, or take part in communal activities. In many community rooms you can also have lunch (for a small fee), and in De Dukdalf you can even get a hot meal.

Love and suffering streets

In a Love and Sorrow Street, neighbours agree to look after each other. For instance, with a card or a small gift in case of illness, birth or death. As a street, you get a budget of €150 a year to do something nice for your neighbours. For instance, children from the street can craft a small surprise for the holidays. Anything goes, as long as it contributes to caring for each other. Register as a love and sorrow street

Help or a good idea?

Do you have a question, are you worried about someone in the neighbourhood, or do you have a nice idea for your district? The community worker in your district will be happy to think with you and make sure your question reaches the right place.

In Stadseiland, Lief- en Leedstraat is a great example of how a neighbourhood comes together to support each other in good times and bad.
