Offer support as a volunteer Patient Support

A hospital appointment can be exciting. Especially when people are on their own. As a volunteer at Patient Support Lelystad, you offer support. You go along to healthcare appointments (also outside Lelystad), listen in and help to understand and convey information properly.

Two hear more than one

You are a listening ear and help hold the thread of the conversation. Afterwards, you check whether the patient has understood the information well. You then also pass on the information to a family member, carer or caregiver, helping not only the patient but also the network around them.

More than practical

As a volunteer at Patient Support, you do not need to have medical knowledge. The most important thing is that you are committed, can listen well and communicate clearly.

You make a real difference. By going along, you also relieve carers and family. They don't have to take time off, but still stay well informed.
