ReadingExpress
Learning to read together
Does your child have difficulties with the Dutch language? The VoorleesExpress helps families in Lelystad with children aged between 2 and 8 to work on language development at home. A volunteer visits weekly for 20 weeks to read together with your child and you, to playfully engage with language and increase the enjoyment of reading.
Why the VoorleesExpress?
Language is important. Children who can speak, read and listen well participate more easily at school and in everyday life. The ReadingExpress helps with this. Your child learns new words and gets better at language. You learn how to read aloud yourself. This way, reading becomes something fun you do together. After twenty weeks, you as a parent will have enough ideas and confidence to continue on your own.
Become a reader?
Would you like to mean something to a family in Lelystad? As a volunteer with the VoorleesExpress:
- read to a family in their home for one hour every week for 20 weeks.
- Give your parents tips to continue reading aloud themselves.
- Get to know new people and contribute to equal opportunities for children.
You do not need to have an educational background, but you do need to enjoy reading, have an open mind and a bit of perseverance.
