Respite volunteer needed
A little time for yourself. That may
Do you care for a partner, parent, child or neighbour day in and day out? Then you know how valuable it is to take a breather once in a while. A moment for yourself. Without worries. Just taking a walk, reading a book or doing something that energises you.
At Welzijn Lelystad , we understand this. That is why there are respite volunteers: people who are there for a while for the person you care for. So that you have time to recharge.
What does a respite volunteer do?
A respite volunteer - also known as a buddy - comes by for a chat, a walk or an activity. Something small, but with great impact. Think about:
- Providing companionship to your partner with dementia so you can go out for a while.
- Out and about together with your father in the wheelchair, so you can have an afternoon off.
- Doing an activity with your child with NAH so you can relax for a while.
We fine-tune everything carefully: what suits your situation, the volunteer and your wishes.
You are not alone
Our volunteers receive guidance and training. What about you? You get the space to be yourself for a while. Without feeling guilty. Because taking good care of yourself is also taking good care of yourself.
