Support parent: being there for another family

Sometimes parents need a breather. As a support parent, you help a child and its parents regain balance. Just by being there.

Who can become a support parent?

As a support parent, you catch a child in your home. Meanwhile, parents get a break and a child feels welcome in a safe, stable environment. Whether you are available weekly or once a month, you decide what fits into your life.

Support parents are ordinary people with big hearts. You do not need to have experience with children. What matters is that you are reliable, can listen and are open to bonding with a child.

Good match

Together, we ensure a relaxed start, with clear agreements and space to settle in. This way, we take the time to get to know you. What do you think is important? What suits you? Then we sit down with you and the family to make good arrangements. Only when it really clicks between you and the family will we start.

We guide you

If you get started as a support parent, you will receive a short training with useful tips and personal experiences. We also organise theme and peer review meetings, where you meet other support parents. Coordinator Liesbeth Krouwel guides you and is available if you have any questions or would like to spar.
