Cosy Christmas brunch in Hanzeborg brings residents together

Over 60 residents enjoyed a delicious Christmas brunch at Hanzeborg community centre on Boxing Day. Like last year, the community workers in the area (Daimy, Danielle, Judith and Ronnie) made sure nothing was missing. They did this together with a good number of volunteers.

A hall for Christmas spirit and treats

The main hall in Hanzeborg was completely in Christmas spirit: with a cosy Christmas tree, beautifully set tables and an extensive buffet. From oven-fresh crossaints, Christmas bread, homemade soup with French bread and herb butter, various salads, delicious toppings, crispy rolls and milk and fruit juices: there was more than enough to choose from. But also plenty to take home and many people did just that.

Nice prizes at music bingo

Everyone was given an A4 sheet on which very familiar and slightly less familiar Christmas songs were listed. Soon, boxes were drily ticked off. Christmas classics like All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carry were easy to guess, others required a bit more thinking. There were great prizes to be won.

Visible enjoyment

At the table, great conversations ensued, laughter was heard and people visibly enjoyed the delicious food and conviviality. 'That's what we do it for,' said community worker Judith. 'Nobody needs to be alone at Christmas.' After lunch, she poured a nice cup of coffee and tea for everyone and it was time for the music bingo.
