Ready for the start: hunting season coming up
This year, young people can again compete against cops and boas during the game Hunting Season, in and around playground Schateiland. On Wednesday 29 April, the Water District will once again turn into the playing field for this exciting chase game. The event is organised by youth work of Welzijn Lelystad, together with the police and the boas of Lelystad municipality.
A popular tradition
After the success of previous editions, speed, excitement and cooperation are also the focus this year. Young people try to stay out of the hands of youth workers, police and youth boas, who do everything in their power to track them down. Those caught will be taken to Treasure Island. Being bored is not an option there: there are plenty of activities to take part in.
'It's great to see how fanatical young people are becoming. They want to outsmart us at all costs and we don't give in easily,' youth worker Vinay and youth messenger Naomi say with a laugh.
Two age groups
Hunting season is there for two age groups. This year, there is a group for youngsters aged 12 to 13 years (starting shot at 11.30am) and a group for 14 to 18 years (starting shot at 2.30pm). A maximum of 150 spots are available per age group.
