A relaxed start to the new season for young carers
A game of table tennis, decorating egg cakes, colouring and playing pool. The kick-off meeting for young carers and their parents was, above all, a relaxed affair. And that was exactly the intention, because growing up with care responsibilities at home also affects children.
Time to catch up
Children and their parents trickled into the youth club at the Atolplaza community centre on Wednesday 8 September. The table tennis and pool tables immediately caught everyone’s attention – not just the older youngsters, but also the younger children and some of the fathers. Younger children enjoyed themselves decorating egg cakes, colouring in and doing crafts. The atmosphere was relaxed. Parents had time to catch up with one another whilst their children played.
New season
The young carers’ team’s new season is once again packed with activities, outings, training sessions and themed meetings.
We want to show young carers that they are not on their own. Through fun activities and contact with their peers, they are given a chance to simply be a child or young person.
