Volunteers enjoy beauty day

Normally, they take care of another person without expecting anything in return. But this time, it was all about them: 20 women doing voluntary work in Lelystad East. Students from the ROC van Flevoland's beautification course provided various beauty treatments on Monday morning. 'You have so earned this,' said Hiba Jmil of the IDO Foundation and Jennifer Daal of Welzijn Lelystad.

Warm thanks

Jennifer Daal(Welzijn Lelystad): 'I am very happy with you and what you volunteers mean to Lelystad. I couldn't do my work without you. You are the icing on the cake for me. And we are very happy that the ROC gives us this opportunity.'

Fun conversations between women and students

'It's starting to become a tradition,' says Ineke Hooftman, teacher in Physical Care at ROC van Flevoland. Together with colleagues, she accompanied the students and made sure the women lacked nothing. During the treatments, cheerful and open conversations arose between the students and the women.

'We give something back to you'

Hiba Jmil (IDO Foundation): 'You are wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister or grandmother and do so much for others. Now we are doing something in return for you. You deserve to be pampered nicely.'

Moment of relaxation

And they enjoyed the hand and foot massages, facials and nail painting. During the facials, the women lay comfortably under warm towels. The nail treatments started with a relaxing hand massage. Delicious sandwiches, biscuits, coffee and tea were available during the break.

Men's Day coming up

The second edition was well received and will have a sequel - also for men. 'The men I speak to ask when it will be their turn,' laughs Jennifer Daal. 'I don't want to disappoint them, so the men's day is coming up!'
